Three Kinds of Learning Theory

Computers are an essential thing that support education and they are making the progressing more frequent in the classroom. Educational technology is advancing and is becoming easier for students in using and applying. Students are already using websites to practice almost every aspect of learning. They also can use computers closely for safety purposes. Applying learning theory there are three kind of learning theory: behaviorism, constructivism, and cognitivesm.

The first of all is behaviorism. Behaviorism is described as a developmental theory to attract a learners’ response to stimuli. Behavioral psychology, also known as behaviorism, is a theory of learning based upon the idea that all behaviors are acquired through conditioning. Conditioning occurs through interaction with the environment. According to behaviorism, behavior can be studied in a systematic and observable manner with no consideration of internal mental states. (Cherry, Kendra 2O11) The example is using group members of the study by using a system to reinforce positive academic performance and student behavior through a classroom application of using drill and practice includes computer software, like: blog.

Second, constructivism is a theory of learning based on the idea that knowledge for help and guide students in finding information and answer questions or problems by the knower based on mental activity. Learners are considered to be active organisms seeking meaning. Jonassen (1991) talks about constructivism as follows: Constructivism, founded on Kantian beliefs, claims that reality is constructed by the knower based upon mental activity. Humans are perceivers and interpreters who construct their own reality through engaging in those mental activities...thinking is grounded in perception of physical and social experiences, which can only be comprehended by the mind. For instance: teacher may encourage students to formulate their own questions (inquiry), allow multiple interpretations and expressions of learning (multiple intelligences) and encourage group work and the use of peers as resources (collaborative learning).

Third, cognitivesm is a learning theory of psychology that attempts to explain human behavior by understanding the thought processes. This was an innovation that required extensive involvement of teachers to change teaching methods from teacher centre to students centre. Stuents are familiar with multiple aspects of computer technology because they have most likely been using it for most of their real life. According to Piaget’s theory, teachers should be concerned with the process of learning rather than the end product. For example, the teacher should observe the way a child manipulates play dough instead of concentrating on a finished shape.

In brief, there are three aspect in applying learning theory in order to give knowledge about the various way of learning.
